They say time flies when you are having fun but it is still hard for me to believe that I have been teaching at CMS for 6 years now. Since arriving here I have been a part of the French Immersion team at Central but this year I am excited to have the opportunity to teach the Grade 7 English students as well. My focus is Social Studies or Etudes Sociales with a little bit of Science and Language Arts to keep my year interesting and challenging. If your son or daughter is travelling to Québec with us in the spring I will likely be one of the chaperones as this is one of my favorite grade 8 extra curricular activities. Québec is an amazing and worthwhile experience for all who go. I will also be coaching Handball this year with Mme Lerouge and of course helping plan and organize the Café Français.
I consider myself a Life-Long Learner as I entered the teaching profession after many years in policing and protective services. For my students I want them to value education and not to think they need to have all the answers but to know how to find the answers and most importantly to value our society and the world we live in, appreciating our differences and our commonalities. Education can take us many places but attitude is what connects us as people. Literacy is another passion for me in learning with the view that literacy is more than reading. Literacy is the way we acquire, interpret and use information in every aspect of our lives so to me literacy is the building block of who we are and who we become.
I look forward to meeting all of my new students this year and getting to know each one of them individually as we move through the school year.
