I grew up not far from here, in Innisfail, where I graduated from High School and my love of teaching was born. I had amazing, inspirational teachers, who are still supportive to this day! I completed my teaching degree through the Middle Years Program at Red Deer College. I was honored to be on the Dean's list, and to receive a Student Recognition Leadership award for Innovation, Inspiration, Leadership, Courage, and Community.
I have a wonderful family; my husband, son, and daughter, and a family cat (who thinks she's a person). The people in the family enjoy being outdoors as much as possible. Hiking, kayaking, cycling, and sitting on our deck by a fire are top if our list. We are also avid card players. You can catch us most every night either playing solitaire or challenging each other to a range of games.
I am excited to teach Foods & Fashions and a Literacy class this year. We are big 'foodies' at our house, enjoying both cooking and baking, exploring new recipes, and trying different cultural cuisine. We have a huge garden in our tiny back yard, and we enjoy snacking from it all summer long. Growing up on the farm, I was exposed to 4-H at a young age and the 4-H Sewing Club was the beginning of a joy of sewing. The basics are the best! As for Literacy, I am a BIG believer in reading! Adventure, relating to others, and learning through story...what a great way to escape! I fully expect, as all times I have taught, that the students will have a hand in teaching me some wonderful things, as I do my best to inspire and engage them in their learning, as well.
